360º Sustainability at SUNBLAST: A Comprehensive Commitment
Sustainability in the music and events industry is more than a trend; It is an imperative need to preserve our planet. SUNBLAST is positioned at the forefront of this transformation, integrating a 360º approach into every aspect of its production. From its six stages placed at 360º, projecting music of different styles such as electronic, house, hip-hop, bass, trap, funk, EDM, among others, to its comprehensive approach to sustainability. This festival not only promises fun and entertainment, but is also committed to significantly reducing its environmental and social impact, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.
Continuous post-event evaluation and improvement ensures that each edition of Sunblast is more sustainable than the last, fostering a culture of responsibility and climate action. Together, organizers, suppliers, artists and attendees, we can make sustainability an integral part of our celebrations, ensuring that future generations can also enjoy festivals that are vibrant, responsible and in harmony with the environment.
A 360º Approach to Sustainability
The 360º concept at SUNBLAST manifests itself in a comprehensive commitment, covering all stages of the event: from planning and production to execution and subsequent evaluation. This holistic vision ensures that all actors involved—from organizers to attendees—are an active part in creating a sustainable festival.
Sustainable Planning and Production (SDG 12, SDG 13)
Sustainability starts long before the first sound check. In the planning phase, SUNBLAST partners with local suppliers who share its vision of sustainability, promoting the local economy and reducing the carbon footprint associated with the transportation of goods. Consuming local products, such as fruits, vegetables and other KM 0 products, not only supports local farmers and businesses, but also helps reduce your carbon footprint.
Adequate Waste Management (SDG 12)
During the festival, efficient waste management is key. SUNBLAST implements strategies to minimize waste generation, eliminating single-use plastic and promoting reusable products. At the beginning of the event, each attendee receives a glass with a characteristic design. This glass is a fundamental part of the festival experience and helps reduce the amount of plastic waste.
Energy and Water: Responsible Use (SDG 6, SDG 7)
Energy and water consumption is another focus of attention. The festival uses renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies to power its facilities. Regarding water, drinking water refill points are installed to reduce the use of disposable bottles, and efficient irrigation systems are implemented for green spaces.
Sustainable Mobility (SDG 11, SDG 13)
The mobility of attendees is also part of the 360º approach. SUNBLAST recommends the use of public transportation, bicycles and car sharing to reduce CO2 emissions associated with transportation. As always, bus tickets will be sold to connect the festival with Magma, providing comfortable and sustainable access for all attendees. This initiative not only reduces the carbon footprint, but also improves the transportation experience to the event.
Awareness and Participation (SDG 4, SDG 10)
Education and awareness are fundamental pillars of sustainability. SUNBLAST has spaces dedicated to environmental education, where attendees can learn about sustainable practices and participate in volunteer activities. These spaces, known as Social & Green Corner, encourage participation in environmental protection and promote equality and social inclusion.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement (SDG 12)
The commitment to sustainability does not end with the festival. SUNBLAST carries out post-event evaluations to measure the environmental impact through the calculation of carbon and social footprint, and uses this data to improve in future editions. This practice of continuous improvement ensures that the festival constantly evolves towards a more sustainable model.
Job Creation and Economic Wellbeing (SDG 8, SDG 10)
SUNBLAST contributes to job creation directly and indirectly, promoting the economic well-being of the local community. Much of the staff is hired from the municipality of Adeje and surrounding areas, which favors the local economy, facilitates travel, minimizes the carbon footprint and generates a link with the territory.
Efficient Crowd Management and Sustainability (SDG 11, SDG 13)
Safety and sustainability are fundamental pillars. Sustainable practices and advanced crowd management systems are implemented, ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly event. SUNBLAST undertakes to present, after the event, a calculation of the carbon footprint derived from holding the event and to support emissions compensation projects to make it a carbon neutral event.
Digitization of Processes (SDG 9, SDG 12)
The digitalization of the entire process, including advertising, ticketing and access, is another key strategy. The communication campaign is carried out almost exclusively online, which considerably increases the sustainable nature of the event by reducing the use of printed materials and the associated carbon footprint.
Gender equality. SDG 5
We promote inclusion and gender equality in our purple point. During the execution and development of the event, we guarantee a space for information, prevention and support in the face of gender violence and sexual harassment.
